Academician Shen Shuzhong was successfully selected in recognition of his outstanding achievements and significant international influence in the fields of Permian stratigraphy, systematic paleontology, and major biological events. This award is limited to only two scholars worldwide each year.

In a breakthrough that could unlock one of Earth's most perplexing mysteries, Chinese and international scientists have, for the first time, identified numerous buried "lost continents"—fragments of Gondwana—from a deep-prospecting perspective, reconstructing the "Greater Gondwana" supercontinent.
